I was at Fry's Electronics yesterday...the salesman told me that if I wanted 1 yr no interest I needed to apply for a credit card, that it was nothing to be approved and I could take my purchase home. I applied. It had a "glich" and he said that 99% of the time that happens and I would get my card (which I now did not need) in about 2 wks. Another associate told me that this was standard practice. Now I have a card coming I do not need, which affects my credit whether I use it or not, and I made my purchase at Best Buy which was wonderful. Just wondered how many people fall for this scam, especially at Christmas and how many would like to know DO NOT patronize stores with this practice as they MAKE money off your getting the card whether you USE IT OR NOT and it DOES stay with your credit no matter what..

I have many videos of my college (more than about 9 hrs. total). I was thinking of taking them to home so that I can play them on my conventional DVD player. Since almost all of them are in AVI or other formats, I don't think that my DVD player at home will read them if I directly put them on a DVD and make a data DVD. So I needed to make a video DVD, one which was easily playable on almost all of the DVD players.
When I began burning, my software showed that only two hours of video was going to fit on a standard DVD (4.7 GB). I am confused cause every video is about one hour long and is of about 350MB. So if I make a data DVD, I will be able to put at least 12 videos, which equals 12 hours of video. But in DVD which I need to make, I can only put 2 hrs!!!!
Why is it so? I have also seen DVDs holding three complete movies and still playable on a standard DVD player. How did they make them? I want to fit highest amount of video I can, please tell me what should I do cause if there is

I don't want that to happen..I just want a picture taken not a recording too!

How do I fix that?! It automatically happens.....

I went to a local small jewelry shop to get the battery replaced in my digital running watch. I'd gotten other watch & calculator batteries replaced there before. When I picked up my running watch last week, it was "on" but is really messed up--I can't set it, and it just blinks.

It worked perfectly fine before it ran out of batteries, before I brought it in. So I went back to the shop and explained the situation. They said they'd look at it, and give me an estimate for repairs if it needed it.

I don't think I should have to PAY for repairs if they messed up the insides of the watch when they put the battery in. I said that politely, and they basically said, well, we didn't break it, so you have to pay if you want us to fix it.

I don't think this is right, but they won't budge. It's a $120 watch...should I stand my ground? If it's broken beyond repair, should I ask them to replace it? I basically have no actual proof that they broke it, though...

Plz don't tell me a tie...
He is 23 years old and loves computer stuff, of course that is all over $20.00. He is very active and hates to wast money on stuff he won't ever use, so I'd like to not get him something he won't use. He does not have any fav sports team or anything like that. I have no idea what to get him, he likes to play World of Warcraft but is not addictied to it, is there anyother game out there like it that I might be able to get him. He has a play station 2, any games for that or PC games??? I just have no idea what to get him. It must be under $20.00.

How can I read the regioncode of a DVD? Can we read it with a PC? Any specific software to read it? offset? location?

My region-free DVD player stopped playing some of my DVDs (yeah only some) which were working purfectly earlier.. These continue to work on the other player without issues. Why could it be so? Is this something with the firmware?

Scanmagic V100 is the model which is giving this problem - region free.

Any solutions?
Thanks
