Does anyone know how to put home pictures onto a dvd and with sound?

For a Christmas present I want to make a couple of my friends a DVD with a bunch of old pictures and I think it would be really cool to have some of our favorite songs playing in the background! PLEASE someone tell me this is possible and easy and cheap!

And if you DO know, COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW
