Well, I would suggest you push the circle. If your coffee machine doesn't turn on then the dash is the on button.

That's the international marking for power switches. It isn't a dash, it's a 1 (one), and the other is a 0 (zero). Officially, the 1 indicates connection with AC power (mains) and 0 means off (no connection).
