I really want it but I dont want to like Nike shoes. I rather perfer wearing my converese. Is that ok or must I purchase nike shoes too?Also where can I get one?

no, you can use the Sport Kit with any shoe. You can buy a clip that puts it on top of the laces, or you can improvise and attach it.

i read in the apple forums that since the nike shoes are designed for the "NISK" (too lazy to type it).. and they will register every step taken. while any other ways would only register half or only some of the steps taken. i have also heard people carving holes in their shoes to fit the reciever.

the nisk shoes are sold at Foot Locker and probably every major shoe store..

A quick look of a page on Wikipedia says it's possible with other shoes but you need some pouch that ties with the laces and I don't know how you'd get that.
