How can I read the regioncode of a DVD? Can we read it with a PC? Any specific software to read it? offset? location?

My region-free DVD player stopped playing some of my DVDs (yeah only some) which were working purfectly earlier.. These continue to work on the other player without issues. Why could it be so? Is this something with the firmware?

Scanmagic V100 is the model which is giving this problem - region free.

Any solutions?
Thanks

It is usually on the back side of a DVD if it isn't there try looking on the disk itself, those 2 options are usually where the region number is, if it isn't no clue where, if your DVD player has a manual look through it to get accustomed to what you player will play and what your player won't play.

Yes. There's absolutely no need to go to the manufacturer. You do, however, only have the option to change the DVD region a maximum of 5 times before it becomes 'locked' on that region. Click on Start and then click on Control Panel. Double-click on the System icon. Select the Hardware tab, and then go to Device Manager. Click on the + next to where it says DVD/CD-ROM drives. (There may not be a + sign if you only have one CD/DVD drive installed.) Right-click on the name of your DVD/CD-ROM drive, and click on Properties in the dialog box that opens. Select the DVD Region tab, make your choice, and then click on OK. (A shortcut to get to your Device Manager is to hold down your Windows key, and press the Pause/Break key.)
