I have been thinking lately of getting an IPod. I just have one basic question that I can't seem to get a definite answer.

Can I load regular old MP3 files from my hard drive to the IPod, or do songs have to be transferred to the IPod from an audio CD?

i apolygize if this question may sound dumb to anyone but i am not that up to date on my technology.
My younger brother just got an MP3 for his birthday and now wants to put songs in it. I have never had one and don't know how to help him. Can someone tell me who does someone download music from their computer to their MP3, what is the website you go to, how much does it cost and what wire is needed?

I Cant Tell If My Ipod Shuffle Is On Or Not, It Doesn't Play Any Music Either. I Might Need To Call Costumer Ser. But I Wanted To Ask If Any One Knew What That Ment. I Thought I Had To Charge It Longer. Since I Dont Know When The Last Time It Was Charged. My Computer Is showing That My Shuffle Has Music On It But When I Eject It From My Computer I Never get A LIght Or Music. I Bout This From My Frined . I don't use itunes but would like to purchase something similar to an ipod that will allow me to store music from my computer (mainly from Windows Media Player). What are some good products and what do I need to keep in mind when purchasing such items?

ok so i have a nano ipod and it wont download any music to my ipod my ipod holds 240 songs and i only have 219 songs in my library but everytime i try to update my ipod it says
"songs on danielles ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.''

any ideas of wut i should do ???

I was at work and someone brought up a valid point. There might just be better mp3 players than the almighty ipod, i was wondering if there are any mp3 players that have the same features as ipods do like the alarm clock, address book, games holds pictures podcasts I'm leaning towars an ipod but i wanted more input before I got one. any answers will be appreciated.
