I am looking to buy a certain camera that boasts both optical and digital zoom. I am not interested in the digital zoom. Do these cameras that have both types of zoom options use them both at the same time? For example, if I want a 2X optical zoom shot, will the digital zoom be included or can I choose to use just the optical? None of the cameras I look at explain this.

The price difference between the two doesn't make a difference, but I am wondering which is a better quality camera. Other than personal use, I'd like to use the camera for art and I'd prefer to be able to print out photos that are as large as 8x10. Thanks!

I have a DSC-P71 Sony digital camera that accepts AA batteries. My instruction manual says that I should only use Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries. Why shouldn't I use other types of batteries? The instruction manual doesn't give an explanation.

What could happen if I use other battery types?

What do these adjust, and how can they be adjusted to take specific shots like indoors or outdoors?

What is aperture?

I've already got shutter speed figured out. Mine goes all the way down to 15 seconds... That is one of the coolest features I've ever seen!
