I have joined the news agency. I want to capture the corrupt officers when I offer them bribe or when they are harassing the innocent people. Therefore I want a micro video cam. This cannot be seen by anyone else. Is micro video cam called by some specific name?

For convenience I want to transfer about 25 hours of Mini-DV footage to a 500 GB external harddrive & edit it on a laptop at work using the simple Movie Maker editing program (can't put a lot of thought in the creative process at work and want to splice together a quickie) & then hook the external harddrive up to my PC at the house and fine tune the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 Will I lose resolution? Are there any "cons" I should be aware of before I start this endeavor? I appreciate your suggestions & advice.

My mother purchased a JVC GR-D370U digital video camera that records onto mini digital cassettes. She has watched the videos playback via av plugs to the television but is wishing to upload video to her pc. She can connect the usb plug to the pc and capture the still images saved to the memory card, but she is unable to capture or even locate the digital video. I've searched on the jvc site and found a dv (digital video) cable. I assume this may be needed to transfer the video. Can someone out there help us out? Thanks a bunch.

Need: Mini DV with lowlight capabilities, infinity focus, and image stabalization for $300 or less.

I am interested in purchasing a mini DV camcorder to use during storm chasing. The most important features I would need are low-light capabilities (not using a spotlight, just low light with no possibility of making it better), image stabalization, and an infinity focus. Since I'm in college, I'm poor and hoping to find something that's about $300 or less. Most storm chasing cameras are around $1000, I'm not ready for that yet. Do any camcorders fit this description?

Hi, everyone. I just bought a Samsung SCD363 miniDV camcorder. It came with a USB cable for transfering video to PC. I installed the discs (Driver, DirectX9.0, Video Codec, Quicktime) and ULEAD Video Studio SE.
But, when I try to get the video to go to the PC, the PC first says, new hardware detected, then a little box says installing, then a big box comes up that says "digital signature not detected" and when that box comes up the little icon at the bottom of the screen that lets me know when the PC is hooked up right to something, disappears and if I click "continue installation" the whole thing goes away.
I uninstalled all the disc stuff and reinstalled it 3 times and it is still doing the same thing!
I am so frustrated I could just spit! Please help! Thanks. Ginny

I'm thinking about buying a video camera and mounting it inside the car to read the license plate of the next SOB that backs into my car and then drives away. I'd like to find a system that is motion-activated so that it doesn't have to be running 24/7. Has someone created such a system? It needs to be relatively small but good enough quality that it can clearly read the license plate at about 20-30 feet.

I have a Canon XH A1 camcorder. It has a 4 pin firewire connector. The manual simply refers me to some $800 software package that Canon sells and I'm not interested in spending that amount of money to digitize the video.

So, what other software can I use to get the video from the camera into a video file on my PC? I have both a mac and a PC, so a package for either one will be fine (although I prefer PC).

Keep in mind that the camcorder outputs 1080i video, so the software needs to support that.
