And then I put the DVD +RW disc in and tried to copy the video onto the dvd but it comes up with a message saying it cant. What am I doing wrong here please help.. also I must tell you I never had success copying anything on to the discs I have.(Packard Bell DVD+RW) May be it was me or the discs I am using

First, I don;t use PB discs. I don't use anything by PB.

Maybe your drive cannot handle +RW discs?

Find the spec on your drive and see if can burn to +RW - the details should be on the HP website.

RW discs need to be formatted before you can copy onto them - is this the problem?

Standard R discs are just burned but the RW ones I use (Philips) require formatting first.

I'd try the formatting first.

Also, what prog are you using to burn them? AFAIK, Win XP doesn't burn to DVD's, just CD's - maybe I heard it wrong.

I use Nero 6.6.1.4 and I never have a problem.

Good Luck!

your discs are fine, your drive may be the prob though. if you Have them saved to your hard drive it is a simple transfer from file location to drive folder and copy. if you are only running the video and not fully uploading it to the hard drive it will not burn to disc. you need Loads of free hard drive space for movie and video. Best bet is to go speak to a geek at pc world.

you need software to re_code the video files so that they are recognised as DVD files, DVD decriptor or DVD shrink are great pieces of software
