i'm a college student and recently bought a macbook and love it. i wish to take advantage by making some movies and such.

i want to purchase a video camera that has great video quality, like high def. also, need good sound. need to be able to hear clear and peoples voices, with no disrupting typical wind noises, etc.

what would you recommend? i know high def cams/mini dv are like $1,200.

i can easily purchase a regular mini dv at circuit city now that they cost about $300 but feel the quality will suck on both the video and sound.

tips? advice?

anywhere i could get a great cam would be great.

i checked ebay and the prices are still about $1000. any other sites? anything!!!!

I have a 3CCD Panasonic PV-GS180 digital video camera. It records onto miniDV. The video is crisp and the colors are very vivid on the camera's LCD screen. However, I tried capturing the video into Adobe Premiere Pro to edit, and the video appears very dull. I'm editing on a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop and using the DV firewire cable to transfer video. Any ideas on why the colors are not as vivid on the computer? The video I am capturing was filmed inside under indoor lighting, but the colors are tremendous on the camera itself. I don't know why the computer captured image has almost a gray dullness to it. I thought the 3CCD camera would give a much better image. Any ideas on how I could adjust or fix this?

I am in the process of making a DVD using video I shot this summer with my camcorder, but since it was a new camcorder, I had the video set at the highest quality. My DVD size is 1.8 GB too big. Does anyone know of a way of reducing the size of an MPEG file so I can fit it all on one DVD? Is there any freebie software I can download to help with this?

Thanks!

I've been looking for a cable to hook up my Digital Video Camera to my computer. The camera has a DV connection and my computer only has USB hookups. I'm wondering if there is any cable that could connect the two or what I would have to do in order to get it all hooked up.

I just got a brand new Sony VX2100 yesterday, I seem to be very protective and worry about it, well today in the truck when I was driving, I had my VX2100 in the back seat floor in my hard case and it was standing up to the tallest height it can reach up to(like if you flip it over 90 degrees on its side) and in the case it has foam surrounding the camera everywhere and it is in place securely and not moving around and its a hard case, well the camera just tipped over and hit the truck floor and I turned around and then it frightened me. Am I worrying too much and did anything happen to the camcorder, its a little weird but I think I'm just overprotective and worrying. Thanks and best answer gets 10 POINTS FOR SURE!!!

I read that the microphones that are built in do not work well, but my camcorder, a DCR-HC36, doesnt have a external microphone jack. I would like to know if it is possible to clip the lines to the current built in microphone and install a external microphone jack to the original microphone lines.

Is there a way to take previously recorded 8mm home movies and transfer them to digital format. I've got an old 8mm camera and cannot afford to upgrade right now. But I would like to transfer the tapes to my MAC and then burn DVD's for family to view.
