My Sony handycam camcorder has a "telemacro option." all I can tell that it is doing when this is on is rapidly zooming in. Can someone please explain to me what this is.

Basically, a macro lens or function means you can focus on something very close. So a telemacro means that you can focus on something relatively close (1-1.5 ft) even when totally zoomed in. Hope this helps!

This allows you to photograph small objects.
Most camcorders have a "Macro" feature, but it's usually at the lens's wide angle setting. This means you have to be right on top of the object you want to shoot.
A "TeleMacro" is at the tele end of the lens's zoom. This means you can take movies of litle objects, but you don't have to be right on top of them. You can be 8 to 20 inches away.
