So my idiot friend left outside last night after some fliming and this morning it poured down pretty hard hard. My neighbor told it was left outside and to go check it out, and i freaked!! So nowwhat can i do? the tape ejected safely and i removed the battery already now.

Is there anything in particular i can do so it continues to work??

Its only an HC21, why not upgrade to something like a gl2 or xl2, or even better an xh a1? :-)

If I were you and it works fine, I wouldnt be too freaked out about it. Just let it dry for a couple of days before using it, in case theres a short circuit or anything. As for Mr. Spin's rice bag technique, it works equally well if you can find some bags of silica gel (those little bags marked "do not eat" that are usually found in beef jerky, and other foods and products), and stick them together in a bag. If you use rice, there tends to be "rice dust" that will fall from the rice and possibly stick to your lens, as well as get in the cracks of your camera. If you dont have silica gel, just set it out somewhere, and it will dry in a couple of days. Hope this helps!

Get a HUGE plastic bag of dry rice. Place the camera in there and seal the bag. A week from, the camera Will be completely dry.

Get it professionally cleaned, that is, if you bought the extended coverage on the warranty. Like a tape head cleaning.

I had a cell-phone fall in the toilet, completely uses less until I did the "Rice Bag" treatment.
