I recently purchased a moonlight nightlight, such as the one shown here:
http://www.carbonneutral.com/shop/details.asp?productid=938&productname=Moonlight%20-%20the%20energy%20efficient%20nightlight
all over the packaging and instructions it makes it clear that if you leave it switched on for 24 hours a day 365 days a year it will cost less than 50p per year to run. It states this so clearly so many times that I am concerned that by turning it off in the day time it will actually be costing me more to run somehow - is this possible? Could it use more power being turned on once a day than if it was left on all day? It doesn't flicker or get brighter if you leave it on, it appears to just come on, stay on, and light up the room (although it's not the colour like in the picture, it's definitely a bright green!)
