This scratch can't be removed from the screen. If you want to replace the screen, then yes it is possible but it costs a lot of money.
I would recommend using a LCD screen protector which costs £3.99, and it protects the screen from scratches.
Look for it on the www.jessops.com website.

As soon as I bought my camera I bought a screen protector. So do that next time. Unfortunately, if the scratch is deep there is no way that it can be polished out. If you try with an abrasive, you will sod it up completely, as the screens are made out of a relatively soft plastic. Your only option is a new screen, but as has been said it's not worth it as they are expensive, Sorry to say it, but if it is a question of perfection,it is better all round to get another camera.

If it is the screen, then this is ok, as it will not ruin any of the photographs, just need to say sorry.
If it is the lens, then you are probably cheaper getting a new camera

Manish is 100% correct. I use a cover for this purpose. But best of all just admit to the accident, or rather get your son to.
