Flash that comes build-in with any camera has it's limits. Unless you get an external powerful flash another good way is to over-expose.

Trial and error 1st with the + or - for exposure and if need to, use a tripod.

Hope it helps and happy snapping!

This is really a job for a digital SLR camera.
With a Canon 350D ($630 new) and a 50mm f/1.4 lens ($240 used), you can shoot at ISO 1600 at f/2.0 with fantastic image quality.
With your current camera, you're limited to ISO 100 with f/2.8. This gives the Canon a 32x faster shutter speed. The Canon will even deliver decent image quality at ISO 3200 with f/1.4. In this case, the Canon is 128x faster than your current camera!
I've used my Nikon dSLR in poorly lit gyms at ISO 1200 with f/1.4. The lighting in night clubs is even worse, so you'll really appreciate the performance of a Canon dSLR (they're better than Nikon in low light.)
You can also find dozens of point & shoot cameras that will outperform you current camera... but none that will do the job!
