What are some ideas for eletrical devices that can be made at home?

When i was younger i made a propeller for a model submarine out of a remote control car motor..and it worked too...but was battery powered..Was a fun hobby for a kid though.
I would consider making a small fan.

1) A simple burglar alarm system.
2) Porch light that comes on when it gets dark.
3)Garden sprinkler that turns on at a fixed time each day, this could be fitted with a rain detector so that it does not come on when not needed.
4) Stick a car rear window heater (car accessory shops have them) on the back of your bathroom mirror to stop it steaming up.

try putting your finger in the socket and power it on.
It's cool and fun! and you turn into an electrical equipment!!
