Software - September 2007

When i try to burn a movie that I download and I use Roxio to burn it, the program stops responding. I go as far as adding the video and then I hit burn and the movie stops responding. What should I do? Customer care told me to uninstall the software and then reinstall it. But I have done that. Now they say to reinstall all the software on the computer. Do you think this will work or what could i do differently?

can somebody help me.. i used to copy and paste, it's only now that i encounter this problem..everytime i copy and paste, the only text that appear is "hello!"..is there any other way? i need to finish my research..tnx

The last update they had was fast and easy, but this 2 point something version is so slow and never connects (or I have to uninstall and reinstall to get a connection).
Anyone have an answer or solution? thank you - !!

I'm using my using my friends lap top and ever since someone was messing with it the windows don't show up on the task bar when they're minimized (they're there but they don't show up, you have to open the task manager to actually pop them up again.)

If you can help it would be much appreciated !

Hi,
I actually want to format my C drive and for that I need to go to MS DOS. I am using windows XP proffessional edition. I want to switch back to win98 so need to format C drive. But formating can be done only when I go to ms dos prompt which I am unable to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, it does reognize them. It just doesn't seem to know what to do with them. When I insert a cd, iTunes tries to access the information for it and fails. I should still be able to listen to the cd through iTunes though but it doesn't even show that I have a cd in the drive. Won't show the songs at all.

This all started when my hard drive was replaced. I am using like iTunes version 5 right now because for some reason I can't access the apple website (along with other seemingly random sites..whole different problem...).

Basically, I can understand not finding the info for the cds (can't access the site, no info. right?) but what I don't understand is why it won't even display the cd for me to edit info or play it.

It is not scratched. I have tried multiple cds, some scratched and some new. Same response each time.

I have windows vista and i selected all of the folders I wanted to burn to a disk from my Pictures folder and I hit burn at the top. The selected files changed from blue to brown, but I think they just got transfered to a waiting to burn file. Can someone tell me how to find them and burn them?

I'm no noob with computing but if I could pull a program out the monitor and make it live for a few mins, I'd kick the sh** out of Windows Movie Maker. Come think of it, I wouldn’t need minutes, because it’ll be over in seconds.
And before anyone says something like "it's free pal so you should be grateful" then please stfu. No disrespect to anyone either! My anger is for this fu****** annoying piece of glitchy crap.

I hate windows vista, fix one problem just to find that created 10 more. I was to degrade back to windows xp, My computer came with vista, is it possible to just buy a unregistered copy of xp and slap it on my computer, and totally wipe vistas b/s off my computer?

I currently have windows xp, and like the look of vista. I was going to download vista transformation pack, but first wanted to know if you still can run microsoft update and get updates for xp if you have vista transformation pack installed. Also I wanted to know if i can run the vista transformation pack on only one account because i think some people in my house wont like having to learn how to use the vista look. I'm sending my laptop off to get fixed. The copmany I'm sending it to said your probaly going to lose all the files on your laptop. My question is how do I save all the files on the laptop before I send it off ? A friend said you can save them to a CD, but I have no idea how. Can anyone tell me how to do this.

My computer turns off automatically when you leave it on for hours. Before it turns off, I smell something burning (mild smell), then after a couple of minutes, it turns off by itself.

Then, when it's shut down, and I press the "on" button, nothing happens. I have to pull the plug off the socket, put it back on, pull the plug, put it back on, until it finally turns on again.

Why does this happen lately? It didn't happen before, and it's even turned on longer.
