Can't locate anything in the control panel to uninstall their service. Want to get rid of everything pertaining to AOL.

I use AIM at work but I want to be careful to not be so obvious in using it too often.
Whenever someone IMs ME, the aim window pops right in front and center of my screen and its quite obvious for people to see that I'm chatting... does any1 know how to change this setting??
Also, is there any way to change the AIM icon/ picture on the window tab and system tray? Like a "fake" icon such as the one used on MSN messenger??

I want to download torrents, i have uTorrent but it's absurdly slow, either 0.0 kB/s or 0.1 kB/s. I don't mind if it's fairly slow (i'd be ok with around 10 kB/s) but there's no way i'm going to be able to figure out how to use port forwarding. is it possible to download torrents without setting up port forwarding or anything? i have a fast connection, which program should i use?

I've just got switched to ubuntu and I can't find a driver for my network adapter, it's a Realtek RTL 8139 model, I found a driver saying linux for the OS I downloaded it, I t was a very small download, only 17kb I transfered to my other pc (the one with Ubuntu on) Via USB storage card but nothing happened, it never picked up the software

I also have a wireless card but again I can't find the right software for it, it's inventel and usually comes with a wanadoo package.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Every now and then, it just closes by itself, and i loose all my work. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?!
there is an autorecovery, but it doesn't always work. I usually end up loosing my work half of the time.

Hi i am a engineering student in bangalore and a newly introduced to the linux world and i know nothing about the latest and better versions of linux.
So can anyone help me out to download and install linux version which you think suits an engineering student also it should help me further when i am placed as a professional.
Kindly tell me some easier way of installing it as i dont even know to partition my hard disk.
And i have Windows XP home version so installing linux should not create problems with windows.
