The last update they had was fast and easy, but this 2 point something version is so slow and never connects (or I have to uninstall and reinstall to get a connection).

I'm using 2.0.9.3030 and one thing that helps to make sure there is nothing in your shared folder that is corrupted which will make it hang. Another thing if you have tons of mp3's its hashing the files before it connects. I just recommend you move your mp3's to a different Directory or folder and make sure the sharing folder is cleared out of everything and try reinstalling Ares. And also usually on the first run after upgrades or clean install it will take about 5 mins to connect. After that it will connect right away. Make sure you have a nickname put in otherwise it can cause problems.
