Software - February 2007

I was able to copy an open message and past it into a word doc a couple of days ago and now all of a sudden I can't. When I try to paste into word it freezed up (becomes non-responsive) I have to end task and close word. I can copy into wordpad still. I uninstalled word and re-installed and I uninstalled Explorer 7. Now I am back to version 6 and it is still happening. Any suggestions?

yeah that pretty much sums it up...i've been using windows forever so i'm not used to the installation process on linux...soo..i dowloaded these 'packages' as they would say...erm well when i downloaded limewire and realplayer, each got an icon on my desktop - limewire's was 'LimeWireOld.zip' and realplayer's was 'realplayergold.bin' when i open limewire's, it comes up as an archive. when i open realplayer's, it says "Cannot open /home/jymi/Desktop/RealPlayer10GOLD.bin: No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file." what do i do? how do i install them?

i have limewire pro and mcafee, how do you add limewire to the acceptance thing on mcafee so its not behind a firewall?

Like it runs as a program when there is a system failure and you can have it restore to its image...i know most compaqs come with there own i kind of want to try it...

I have created a file using Microsoft paint. I want to save it to a floppy. I want to open it in Word2003. I have used .jpg and .gif and it won't open it. Is it possible to be able to save a graphics file to a floppy like this and if so how would I do it?

I just completed a clean install of Win XP...or so I thought.

Everything went fine until I reached the welcome screen. At that screen it asked me to enter a password--mind you I didn't provide it with a password. When I tried to leave the field blank and pressed enter I got the following message:

"The system cannot log you on due to the following error:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Please try again or consult your system administrator."

I AM my system administrator. What should I do? Is there a default win password? And why has this error occured (I already tried to 'repair' it'?

A few days ago, something strange started happening on my computer.

Whenever I do anything beyond selecting certain folders on my desktop (if I right click, try to open them, or even just move them to a different spot on the desktop), my computer restarts. I don’t know how many folders, because I hardly want to try them all. There doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern, aside from the fact that it only happens with folders — two of the folders I’ve noticed trouble with contain music, and two others contain a number of .zip files. But I had no problems with another folder that contained a far larger number of zip files than the other combined.

I really need to get to some of the files — particularly the .zip files — and I’m tired of wondering every time I go to the desktop if my computer is going to suddenly shut down. What’s wrong, and how can I fix it?

I made a powerpoint slideshow with music in the background (MP3s) for my daughter's 18th birthday, but now I want to copy it a CD to show on our Big Screen TV.
How can I do this, I tried the CD package option in Powerpoint 2003 but it won't take the MP3 files.
