I just completed a clean install of Win XP...or so I thought.

Everything went fine until I reached the welcome screen. At that screen it asked me to enter a password--mind you I didn't provide it with a password. When I tried to leave the field blank and pressed enter I got the following message:

"The system cannot log you on due to the following error:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Please try again or consult your system administrator."

I AM my system administrator. What should I do? Is there a default win password? And why has this error occured (I already tried to 'repair' it'?

On your welcome screen when you created your administrator user account did you password protect it as you should have? As administrator you should have full access to anything on the computer,Windows is asking for your login password to your account. If all else fails contact Microsoft by phone to register your Windows XP and ask them for help.
