Hi -
It is the new Microsoft operating system. Basically, if you have Windows XP Pro, then next step up is Windows Vista.
No one, right now, really needs to get Vista. Usually people wait about a year, and then get Vista, because right now, there are still bugs in it that need to be fixed.
The best part of Vista, in my opinion, is the layout of it. Transparent windows, awesome looking icons, and just really cool random stuff that makes it look really good.
I recommend getting it a year from now!

to my opinion it will b the successfull successor of windows XP if ur computer meets the configuration stipulated..
one of the most awesome feature of the windows vista is its 'aero' desktop..it is nothing but the transparency of the new window to see the previously opened one..this makes so good to toggle between the windows which has to be worked through..
it also support a feature called parental locking..
that is from the administrator the obscene sites, restristion to games, and the time for which the games has to be connected can presetupped..
so if ur computer is compatible with 2GB ram and around 14 GB hard **** space for OS alone it is much better to have installed one..
but u can go further after it get recogonised and its problems are fixed..

Please check out these links. The first is Microsoft's advisor which will check your computer to see if it will run Vista. The others will give you information re: Vista. Personally, if XP is doing the job for you, why change?

That's a question only you can answer yourself.
Check out the website: www.microsoft.com/vista
It comes with a lot of features, some may be useful to you - some may not.
But its a very new operating system ment to replace Windows XP in the near future. But for now I recommend staying away from it unless your computer comes with it installed. It's way to new to be stable or bug free.
