yeah that pretty much sums it up...i've been using windows forever so i'm not used to the installation process on linux...soo..i dowloaded these 'packages' as they would say...erm well when i downloaded limewire and realplayer, each got an icon on my desktop - limewire's was 'LimeWireOld.zip' and realplayer's was 'realplayergold.bin' when i open limewire's, it comes up as an archive. when i open realplayer's, it says "Cannot open /home/jymi/Desktop/RealPlayer10GOLD.bin: No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file." what do i do? how do i install them?

For real player, google automatix2, follow the link to the website. Follow the instructions to install. This will give you an icon in the applications toolbar. Click on it and go to the video section (I believe or something to that effect). You should see real player and be able to install from there. Limewire I don't know about. Check the ubuntu forums for additional help with setup.

I haven't seem the install for limewire, but for realplayer its pretty simple, you log on as root user (in the terminal window (only if you dont want to actually log on as root) type su then your root user password) then run the rpm file provided by real player, it should install itslef.

As for the limewire one, read the directions.
