Software - February 2007

It's not so awesome, but that's how I get people to answer my question. It's not stupid though! Okay, I downloaded The Sism to and other Sims 2 programs from this site, its called like "minova" or something, but I don't see them on my desktop. They are supposivly .zip and .rar files. I have more than one question,
1. How do I get the files to my desktop?

2. When the files are on my desktop, where do I extract them too?

PLZ answer ASAP!!!!!!!

I REALLY NEED TO DO THIS. The game sare overpriced and this is a present for my big brothers' birthday. He said he's been wanting these games for a long time, but we just can't afford it. I have the files on my computer somewhere. I DID"NT download them from LIMEWIRE!!!!! so do't even mention it!!!

On Limewire, when it says that the song does not have a license, I always just click don't download...but are there any songs on there that you can download? I don't want to download anything that has that box come up... Would you get fined?

One of my family members owns a tax store where the employees use computers. However, she requests that the computers stay turned ON. Are there any FREE programs or something in Windows XP Professional that forbid shutdown or when you shutdown the computer you need a password to do so. The employees consistently forget and wind up turning them off. Thanks!

k , so i'm trying to upgrade my computer from win 2000 to win XP but in the middle of loading it , it pop up an error saids the parameter is incorrect .. and something like . D:\1386\asms ... so what can i do now ? i dunno how to switch back to ... win 2000 or continue with XP. is there anyway i can recover the computer to win 2000 back ?

every time i use regcure to check the registry .. ii found a problem in ActivX and Empty reg. keys , the point is that even i just finished scan , i get some problem , i mean if i use regcure and i fixed the problem , then i use t again right after that i found some problems again , why/. and how i fix that ??

i am trying to burn to sony dvd-r and it wont, but it will burn on sony dvd+r im using a sony drive so i cant see what the prob is - can someone help me out here please i cant seem to find anything on sony for my drive!

I'm trying to make a magazine for school and I want to know how to use those pre-made designs on different pages.
Like I want one design as the table of contents but use another pre-made design for another page.

Also how can I create empty boxes to put pics and text in them?

I mean did Microsoft program the Windows sofware so that nobody has any control whatsoever over how their operatin system operates? Or is it just me? I consider myself to have quite a good knowledge of windows. However, almost weekly something pops up that really irritates or annoys me.

Can anybody point me to somewhere on this internet where I can learn quite quickly how to master my Windows PC? I would love you for the rest of my life if you can help me.
I do use uninstaller software. Lavasoft adaware. Spy Bot search and destroy. Hijack this. I also look at the programs that are running in the background but I find this very tiresome looking on the net to find out if the programs will hang a noose around my neck.

Surely some of the best programmers have writtena s oftware package that checks all runnign processes and gives you an option at the end to turn them all off and leave the bare bones necessary for th OS to run?? I hope anyone can help me. Thanks in advance.

I prefer to organize and play my music with Musicmatch Jukebox. I purchased the G-Force visualization software, but the Windows Media Player visualizations are, to me, superior. But I don't know where or how to get these visualizations to work with Musicmatch.

After my pc has been running for a while, I cannot use the Start, Logoff sequence. If I do, it takes a very long time and when it gets to the start screen, the screen eventually goes blank. The only thing I can do at this point is to turn the power off, then on and reboot. Alternatively, I can do a ctl/alt/del and use the Windows Task Manger to logoff and I'm okay.

A friend says that he thinks it has to do with my using Norton. Anybody else run into this and found a solution? Thanks.

I have scanned the document in Microsoft Office Document Imaging, I have saved it in Microsoft Office Word 2003 as a template, but when I open it and try to type something into it, well it acts like its a picture with the box around it, what am I doing wrong? I have read everything I can on this, I cant find the answer, please help! I have more to scan and make into templates!

Well, sometimes the computer will just stop, and then the cursour will turn into an hourglass, and then I have to exit whatever I'm doing! It says this 'end now' thing I click that then everything goes away and I have to click 'Don't Send'. And it's not just on the internet either! It happens on Zoo Tycoon 2, Hunting Unlimited, and Simant.
