One of my family members owns a tax store where the employees use computers. However, she requests that the computers stay turned ON. Are there any FREE programs or something in Windows XP Professional that forbid shutdown or when you shutdown the computer you need a password to do so. The employees consistently forget and wind up turning them off. Thanks!

Tell her to either FIRE them or levy a stiff fine onthem if they turn them off. Some people only pay attention when it costs them. Word will get around soon enough if she makes an example of someone. She may try contacting Microsoft for a special program or a computer whiz may be able to install something to forbid this. ...Check here. I think there is a way to do it.

Good Luck!

This kind of stuff makes life difficult for us computer people. It might be easier to ask your family member why they do not want employees to turn off their computers. Everyplace that I have ever worked demanded that you turn off the computer on your desk when you left in the evening. Maybe, they have a data sharing problem which should be solved some other way.
