Question

It's not so awesome, but that's how I get people to answer my question. It's not stupid though! Okay, I downloaded The Sism to and other Sims 2 programs from this site, its called like "minova" or something, but I don't see them on my desktop. They are supposivly .zip and .rar files. I have more than one question,
1. How do I get the files to my desktop?

2. When the files are on my desktop, where do I extract them too?

PLZ answer ASAP!!!!!!!

I REALLY NEED TO DO THIS. The game sare overpriced and this is a present for my big brothers' birthday. He said he's been wanting these games for a long time, but we just can't afford it. I have the files on my computer somewhere. I DID"NT download them from LIMEWIRE!!!!! so do't even mention it!!!

If your talking about the website "Mininova" then you are probably trying to download torrent files and just run them as actual programs. What you need to do is download a BitTorrent downloader like Azureus or uTorrent or BitComet (just google for download sites)

After you install whatever program you decide to use, go back to mininova and re-download the files, only this time, instead of saving them on your computer, choose to open with a program, that program being whatever it was you got. I'm not going to go into how to setup or maintain your downloads, but its not to hard to figure out. Also keep in mind, if you use bittorrent, there is a good chance your steeling, and as long as you probably wont get caught, your still breaking the law. It's a moral issue.

If you have a router, or some firewall software, or even just the basic windows firewall, you may need to open some ports for the trackers to work properly. All the websites you go to should have somewhere instructions on how to do that.

PS you can also search your PC for the (*.torrent) files you already downloaded instead of going back to download them again, and if you do start to use bittorrent, go to isohunt.com its the best ;)

To find the files you downloaded,
you should have created a download folder on your desktop. Next time do that.
For this time, use your SEARCH tool.
Click START > Search > type in the file name > click search.
Then right click /drag the file to your desktop.

To unzip the file you downloaded
First right click and scan the file for virus'.
Next double click the file folder and it will open the zip files.
Double click the file or click EXTRACT
When it asks you > tell it to download it to your desktop once again.
You should have prepared a folder with the name you want like MGame, or something like that.

The game may require you to double click a set up file to install it to your computer.

Now, that you have the game installed to your pc
When ever you want, you can drag it to your Programs folder.
To get to the Programs MAIN folder
RIGHT click START > left click EXPLORE >
scroll down to PROGRAM FILES.
Then grab the game from your desktop and drop it on Program Files.
Inside the Game file there should be a game icon > RIGHT click the game icon and select send shortcut to desktop.

If you have all that done, now you can put the zip file folder in your Recycle Bin.

When you down load any thing if you don't click on a destanation it will go to the same place as the last down load. Check douments.And recent douments.When you find them right click on the files and then click send to.Desktop will be one of the options.Then just click on them and they should open.In case they don't, go here and download something to open them.
You can ext them on the desktop and when you click on an installer it will send them to the right place.

Search for the files.

Start>Search>all files and folders>type in the name and click search. When it finds them just double click on them until you find the right one(if there is more than 1)
