Need help on designs in Microsoft Publisher?

I'm trying to make a magazine for school and I want to know how to use those pre-made designs on different pages.
Like I want one design as the table of contents but use another pre-made design for another page.

Also how can I create empty boxes to put pics and text in them?

There are many excellent books available from the average public library on Microsoft products. My favorites are "The Complete Idiot's Guides" (which are better for people who have very little knowledge about the subject they are researching) and "The Dummies Guides" (which are better for solving a specific problem quickly).
