The best out there is not free, but it is THE BEST. It's called Kaspersky. http://www.kaspersky.com
Second best is, amazingly, AOL Safety Center. It's actually a scaled down version of Kaspersky. Get it from AOL's site.
A decent free anti-virus is AVG Free Edition. http://free.grisoft.com
Avoid Norton and McAfee, as they use entirely too much memory.

AVG is the best, and it's absolutely free! Use the link that I supplied, scroll down and click on "Download free version."
They also have an anti-spyware, but I've never used it. I use Spybot and Lavasoft Ad-Aware Personal SE.
You should also download TweakNow Registry Cleaner and run it (www.download.com), unless you have Windows Vista.

avg virus, google it and download AVG-VIRUS free
its good, free, and doesnt eat alot of virtual memory
