i'm looking fot avi or xvid to mpeg2 convertor and it must be freeware because i'm a cheapskate who does't like paying for anything :-)

I bought this computer in september 06...everything seems to be working well... but the only problem is i have everything from microsoft office. the only program that i dont have is microsoft publisher. what's with that? i checked in the folders. but nothing is to be found. anyways, is it like that on new computers now???

What is window's vista i've heard alot of people talking about it but can't find any information saying exactly what it is is, is it the next window's platform after XP, is it just an add on to XP, or is it a internet browser program?

Well, I am sort of a computer neat freak and I love to have everything exactly the way I want it, who wouldn't? Well today i was just thinking hmm... I've renamed my recycle bin, and completely rearrangeed everything to the way I want it, why not do the start menu? Well i just cant seem to find anyway to do it, when its comes to this stuff on computers, well it doesn't really work out for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. While i was chatting, i was given some files i have them in my documents i opened them while i was still chatting and i could read them, but now when i click on it to open it it opens word and says:

Word can not open this document: user does not have access privilages

What should i do?

OK I'm going to try again,maybe I wasn't clear.I want to prevent bad stuff from being installed.I have Norton,TrendMicro,and Norton isn't up to the task I have all sorts of programs to fix/delete/remove after it's installed.Norton doesn't seem to be up to the task.I want realtime protection that will prevent malware from being installed.Norton has proven time & time again it's not able to do that.

I have tried a few basic programs all about the same. I know PhotoShop is expensive saw it with a rebate for$80.00 over the weekend. The main thing I want to do is funny stuff like taking one persons picture and putting them with another person type stuff....super impose I guess maybe. Is PhotoShop the best for this? I want decent quality. Thanks.

I need one that I can make menus with and won't crash my comp. I've tried Nero and that works, but the quality didn't come out very good and I'd like to use DVDs but it only lets me burn on CDs. I also tried Roxio Easy DVD burning, but the DVD builder doesn't open, it just comes up with an error. The latest program I tried is Roxio Media Creator. It works fine up until the movie is encoding and then it freezes 9% in and I have no idea why. If anyone has any ideas as to why I'm having so much difficulty that'd be great.

Just for reference I'm trying to burn a movie that me and a friend made ourselves, its not ripped. My computer is running at 2.8GHz processor and 1GB ram.

Okay, if anyone can help, I'd love it! I just uninstalled some Vista Transformation Pack from Windows X, and when I try to reinstall Windows XP, it wouldn't work because I was missing a system file! (.sys) Why would'nt it work!? Was it because the Vista Transformation Pack that damaged it bad? Is it permanent? I also had some registry cleaners and error repair software on it, so did those have anything to do with it? How do I fix it!? Help! And if anyone can, tell me what kind of software that harms Windows and damages system files, to avoid if so I can keep my system stable and intact, thx so much! HELP PLZ!?

I have just bought a laptop but i still use my regular computer aswell.
I saved a lot of websites on my AOL favourites folder on my regular computer but i noticed that when i went onto my laptop and used aol - the aol favourites folder hadnt saved the websites which seems odd because i use the same screen name.

Sorry if my question is a bit confusing but if anyone can help it would be much appreciated

Hello!
Non Cyrillic code has been locked when I close page. Each time Western European (ISO) pop up like under check. I have to switch Encoding to Cyrillic every time I open new page. It wasn't before. There isn’t any Cyrillic in the "View" toolbar ever!
How can I fix this problem?

Is it very important to scan your default email clients imcoming emails with anti-virus software as I have just downloaded an anti-virus program and cannot configure its email settings ? If the security risk of getting a virus through an email is very low, I will not worry about trying to work out the anti-virus email settings. But if the risk is very high, I will then try and fix the email settings. I must mention that I understand how important it is not to open any email "attachments" unless you know who the sender really is. So if anyone can advise me on the importance of scanning incoming emails, I would really appreciate it, because if it is not that important, I will not worry about my incoming emails being scaned with anti-virus software at all !
