I use a program called Spybot - Search & Destroy. It is a free program that you can download from www.download.com and is highly rated by those who have tried it. This software has the ability to stop spyware/malware in realtime. Once you install the software, follow the instructions to download all the updates, then continue on with immunizing your computer, then run a full system scan.

No one program will catch themall. even 5 or 6 different programs will miss a really well made piece of malware. I suggest getting adaware and spybot:search an destroy.

Run them often. Your computer will never been able to stop everything from getting to it, but you can limit how much does get in and then also kill them once they do get in.

Avast is the best, it has "on Access" protection which is GREAT, I recommend it to everyone I meet...it's free for life!!! you just have to register (with a LEGIT email (it can be a free one) ) they don't send you spam, or anything for that matter...it's the best I have found...when you first install it it will ask if you want to schedule a boot time scan...DO IT...see how many viruses/adware/spyware your other programs missed :D :D
