Did windows vista come out yet? if so when? And is it a good idea to get it? the only reason i want it because its a good gaming platform and i want HALO2 for pc....

No. It comes out on January 30. Halo 2 for pc will come out around June. If you want vista get it around May because it will have a lot of problems.

How do you know it's a good gaming platform??? I don't remember any of the Windows versions being particularly efficient nor fast, so I guess we disagree on that one.
Also, you should look at recent reviews of Vista which PC Magazine's ain't that good.,, Just a different look for a similar slow OS like XP.
I'd wait for a while and be sure to buy a new computer with Vista on it. Doubt that upgrading an old box will do it.

theres no such thing as halo 2 for the pc. sorry to burst your bubble dude......im really sorrry but there isnt.
and no vista has not come out yet and yes it is a good idea to get it...but! people(and magazines) have all said that xp has a better gaming performance and ect. ect. vista is for the business man that actually Needs and i mean NEEDS! an new computer to protect him from viruses...but! microsoft has had a history of being about as strong as a paper mache fort when it comes to viruses sooo.. i am going to recomened xp for now... and vista maybe a little later when its cheaper and easier to get. Trust me over 230,000 have preorderd it already (true fact not a lie)
and maybe when you people have worked out some of the bugs and the service pack 2 comes out...if it ever does
OH! and one more thing. if your getting a gaming computer, you cant settle fo vista home. it is not a multimedia pc. Vista home premium and Vista ultimate are more your style.
and dont think about upgrading your current computer to vista, vistas minimum is just that a minimum Newer computers are more ready for vista, and yours probably isnt so. get ready to invest in a new computer soon.

I am not sure why you think that the worlds SLOWEST operating system would make your game faster. You see, the CPU does the work, not the Windows system. You see, it takes lots of RAM to get performance, not the WASTE of RAM. It helps to have a quick hard drive, not one that is BLOATED with Windows operating stuff.
Read some news: "Microsoft will release it's next version of Windows, named Vista, on Jan. 30"

It will come out on the 30th of January, 2007.
I agree with Eric H, though, that you should wait a while before getting it, as it has lots of problems. And don't get Home Basic or Premium coz they are way too striped down. I'm gonna get Buisiness. I recommend Ultimate if you can afford it.
But wait for a few months before getting it, as the price will drop and it'll get better.

it comes out in 12 days, 4 hours, and 20 minutes.
i'm using the final version, build 6000 right now. if you're into games, i wouldn't get it right away. the drivers aren't good enough to match those of XP's. XP's game performance is MUCH better than XP's.
but yeah, if you want halo 2, you'll need vista because it doesn't work in xp.

no it still hasent came out, but it will come out on jan. 30, i dont recommend u upgrade to windows vista yet i recommend u wait about 6 months so microsoft can fix all of the flaws and bugs.

Lies! stay away from anything Micro$oft is making its all trash! they are all too worried about piracy to actually make a decent stable piece of software.
