for me but I am still required to activate Windows. I cannot. It won't accept the CD keys for the disk he used. This really ticks me off. Has anyone had a similar experience? I understand the anti piracy issue but sheesh - this makes it seem like everytime you reorganize your hard drive you are expected to re-register or something...PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

I'm attempting to format a new hard drive by booting cd-rom, however after all files are copied, setup starts the entire process over again. I can never get into the final set up stage. Any ideas????

So many questions on here are caused by Windows being a lame operating system. There is an alternative - at least for surfing and e-mail - Linux, which is totally immune to Windows viruses, malware, spyware and all the rest. In fact, Linux is so secure that it's 100% safe to run it without ANY security software apart from a firewall. Your PC will also run faster as it is not being slowed down by Norton/McAfee etc.

The new distributions, such as Mandriva, are excellent and easy to use. In Mandriva I watch DVD movies with perfect quality and sound, listen to my fave MP3s and CDs, upload with built-in FTP, surf safely and securely in Firefox 1.5

Linux is much faster to install than Windows. Does Linux have problems? Yes - mainly with hardware compatibility, but only because hardware manufacturers haven't written Linux drivers. So have a box running Windows if you like, but NEVER let it connect to the web. Get a dedicated Linux box for the web - it's like surfing in a tank!

Ive heard that when vista comes out that games that are released afterwards are unplayable unless you have bista since it supports direct x 10.
Is this true?
will I need to get a new vid card to support direct x 10?

I am doing a System Recovery on my laptop hoping that it'll make some problems go away. It asked me for the recovery disks #1 (I'm assuming this is the 3 Recovery disks I made a long time ago). Then it asked me for disk#2, which I put it. After 25 minutes, it asked for the first CD again, and then the 2nd. It has asked me to this several times. I am now in the middle of the 4th time. It hasn't asked for disk#3 yet.

Is this normal? Will it keep asking me to insert#1, and then #2 over and over? Or is it messed up?
