In my spare time I test antivirus an antispyware program to see if they perform as claimed. Or if they have hidden embedded trojans or adware.
Nortons has always been pure garbage for many years and each an every year continues to get worse.
You may think that when you went to add/removed, Nortons it is not true. My testing of this program showed that it was pure junk in the ability to find any virus installed or remove the virus.
What was even worse trying to uninstall Nortons. I did just what you did, add/remove Nortons. Only to find out that Nortons will leave you with atleast 350 fragments of their program glued to all of your files/folders. Worse of all some of these fragments are hidden in you system. (They just hate you when you remove their program).
It was a living hell trying to get the 350 fragments out. If you go to run and type in: c://program files, click on browse, click program files and open and look for "symantec", I think you are going to still see the file there. An I doubt if you will be able to delete the file as it will say, "file in use, unable to delete".
The worse part is that you can only use one antivirus program, or you will have serious conflict with your system. You can use three or four antispyware without any conflict.
Unless you are an expert with computers, I don't want you to remove the registry fragments of Nortons on a manual basis. One mistake can cost you your entire system.
I have a paid program from http://www.rosecitysoftware.com Registry First Aid. If you are smart you can remove all of the fragments during the evaluation period.
First after the program is installed, before the scan starts it will make a backup of your entire registry. (You can find the backup by typing in your search for files, "backups", when the system scans you will see RFA backups at the top. open and there are your backups.
First the program wil scan :"check registry for errors. Delete all the check marks next too the green, yellow and red. Don't worry, because a backup is made of everything you delete.
Now here is where you will get rid of the fragments. Where you see "Search the registry:, type in at the top, "nortons" and click on add. Then type in symantec and click on add. Now the program will scan your registry for all associated keys with the two names. When the scan is completed, left click on each file shown and where you see the arrow point down on the right side drop down and place delete string. A check mark will appear or the left side of the program. Do this for every one.
After you have completed the removal of nortons/symantec, reboot your system and then go back and delete symantec from the run on your start. Will not say unable to delete as file is being used. The run your new antivirus program and reboot again if it finds a virus.
I notice that you say you have "Windows XP SP 1. Do you have a valid key for the platform? As you should be using SP2 which is upto date for Windows XP Prof. If you key is not valid, not try to update anything from Microsoft, because they check atleast three or four times with their :WGA", tool to see validate your key.

The above record is sturdy, yet i might upload "selflessness"to it. you are able to desire to be prepared to allow your mate to be thierself till it incredibly is unfavorable to the dating. Faithfulness is likewise paramount. Infidelity, in any type, is unfavorable.
