this file came up when i ran AVG. so i deleted it, but i don't think i should have done?? does anyone know where i can download it, to put back in my system32 folder? or will i have to reformat? and what exactly does this file do?

The new software i purchased to make a music montage will only use MP3 downlaods and/or CDs. I have a ton of songs from itunes but they are not MP3 downloads. What is the difference? I need a specific song to complete my progect is there a place I can download it in MP3 format?. The song is Kind and Generous by Natalie Merchant. Thank you for the help

saw a video of it somewhere once. they renamed the folder with 4 numbers while pressing the shift key if i remember it correctly and then there was just a blank at where the name was supposed to be. then they changed the folder icon to an empty one. then presto, its there but invisible. i tried it out once and it worked. just cant remember how it was done! should've written it down somewhere. anyone know? think i saw the video on spikedhumor.com

I am having major problems with my son's computer. Dell Dimension running windows XP home edition. First windows start up is EXTREMELY slow. Then a blue screen message and here is what is reads: A problem has been detected wnd windows has to shut down to prevent damage. Then it goes on about checking disk space. If a driver is identified in the error message, to disable the driver. Check with Hardrive vendor for BIOS updates or disable BIOS memory options such as shadowing or caching.

I have tried restarted to the last known good config, however, this still happens everytime he turns on his computer. Any ideas? I am not a super computer know it all, but I am confident at trying some things. Thanks!

At least that is what I think it is called. It's that long bar that usually sits at the bottom of the screen with the start button on the right hand side and lots of little icons on the left.

I opened a words document from my email and I didn't save as, but selected "open". So I typed in that document and clicked on the "save" icon. Then I realised that I can't find it anymore because in the first place, I only opened the document from the email.

But the edited document must have been saved somewhere?

So... My keyboard doesnt have a caps lock light. I have a really bad habit of `not looking at the screen as i type so I FIND MYSELF DOING THIS MIDSENTENCE IF i hit the caps lock by mistake or something.

Is there any way of changing capital letters to lower case in MS Word without having to delet and start over?

Apparently the idea was, that if we all blew ourselves to kingdom come, the telephone system is/was (not sure which now) would be destroyed after all those lovely picturesque mushroom clouds had finished lighting up everywhere, so the powers that be wanted some sort of network to survive all that and apparently that's how Package Switching came about, which in turn lead to the development of the Internet we have today - whereby the world's information is accessable to anyone all over the world.

The theory being, that if somewhere got wiped out - the world's information would still be safe and accessible from somewhere - as far as I understand it?

Right my questions is this:-

I thought that nuclear weapons produced EMP (eletro-magnetic pulse - for the uninitated), which I always thought didn't do computers & especially silicon chips much good - so, how after EMP, would the internet survive anyway!

Would someone be kind enough to explain this to me please?

I just bought an iMac last night. Great, but I have huge files (videos purchased on iTunes) and mp3s to move. Any tips on how I can do this as quickly as possible without having to pay boatloads in the process for any extra hardware? Thumbs up go to all useful answers and the ten points will go to the answer I use to move them. Sorry, but sending out a case of Bawls (for the unlearned, it's the ultimate energy-boosting soft drink) over the net is kinda hard to do. Thanks, ye mechanics of the future.
