I think iTunes uses an AA format for it's audio files, mp3s are different. You can use a program like LimeWire Pro to download audio files in mp3 format, that can then be used with your purchased program.

Does iTunes allow you to create an audio CD with the song? If so create one and then rip it back as an MP3.
You can also do an internet search for a conversion program.

Music download from iStore is usually in MP3 format, but wrapped in encryption. These need to be burt to disc then re-ripped for full usabillity. If music ripped from your own cd's is not in MP3 format, you'll need to change your iTunes settings so that future music will be in that format.
Oh, and there are many ap's out there for converting btwn audio formats - google it :)

Apple uses AFF format, they do this for copyright issues. When you dl a song from itunes it's registered to you and you can use it on up to 5 devices, then you can't do anything with it anymore. Have you tried MP3.com or Yahoo tunes?

the two could be advantageous as you ought to burn an Audio CD & then import & convert them in iTunes or you ought to burn an MP3 CD & import into iTunes. individually for that reason i might do an MP3 CD. maximum audio CDs have a minimum of 22 songs of their threshold while MP3 CDs might have any close to love one hundred. factor is regardless of the undeniable fact that they are happening an iPod that ought to play MP3s, in an attempt to shop CDs i might use MP3 CD.

iTunes songs are specifically mp4s, if you look at the ends. Try Walmart.com; the songs are fairly cheap there.
