Process File: ntoskrnl.exe
Process Name: Microsoft Boot Up Kernel

Description: ntoskrnl.exe is a critical process in the boot-up cycle of your computer although should never appear in WinTasks whilst under normal circumstances

Note: ntoskrnl.exe can be altered by the w32.bolzano and variants. If this process appears in WinTasks, please update your virus definations immediatly.

Do you mean NTOSKRNL.EXE?

That is one of the more important files associated with windows. It controls many functions on bootup.

If it showed up in AVG, it is probably because it was infected with the Bolzano virus or a variant.

Does the computer still boot into windows? Cause it's a possibility that you deleted a copy or variation of that file made by the virus.

If the computer boots into windows fine, you should not worry about it.

If it doesn't, then you will need to either reinstall windows or read up on how to use the windows "Recovery Console". This will allow you to copy system files from the original disk.
