I have always used floppy disks , thought I would get up to date with USB flash drive , able to transfere files on to it but what can I do with them now , can't work out how to open theses files is there instructions on the Net I could download or will I have to go back to Floppys HELP PLEASE

OK back home when I had comcast high speed internet, I could download a 4MB to 8MB song in about 10 seconds to about 45 seconds at most & a movie of about 680MB to 800MB would take anywere from 4 hours to 10hours at most but I am in college now & I can only have DIAL-UP in my dorm & songs take about 15 to 30 minutes & MOVIES TAKE OVER A WEEK IN SOME CASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IS THEIR ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE IT GO FASTER?!!!!!

my pc is old with only 4.3 gb hd, i want to delete old files so that i can defragment, but i need at least 15 % free space to do this. i have deleted programs and tried disk cleanup, but cannot achieve the 15 % i need. is there other unessasarry files or folders that are hidden that i can delete to gain more space? i cannot afford to get new pc or purchace additional hard drive at this time. i have high speed broadband, but my comp. is very slow.

i have a campaq presario sr1650nx, i want something easy to install, easy, and fun to use, i was thinking something unix-y or it would be great if i could get something like mac os x, and i already kno how to make windows look like mac. So something good maybe with that kde or watever where ur desktops r a cube, just something, that i can put on or take off easy, without having to burn it, and i dont want a virtual machine and i kno how to partition.

My computer has a 512 MB ram, and a decent configuration. The HD also has good space, this problem only arises, for the first 1-2 programs. Then the computer runs fairly fast.
Can Somebody help me out?

Certain websites that I visit online have font sizes so tiny that I can't read it. I'm thinking it has to be a setting on my computer because I've had this happen before where the fonts were very large for no reason. I'm not sure how to change these settings.

I Turned the switch off while it was shutting down, thinking that it was finished...did this do any damage. Often if the computer gets caught in some loop where I cannot get out of I have to "pull the plug" since nothing else works/...is this not the same.....

Ok, my dad has an HP Pavillion windows 98 computer. He suddenly lost his browser and his homepage...what would cause this and how does he correct it? He did a Norton anti-virus scan and nothing came up, so kind of clueless on what to do to correct it. I appreciate your help...thank you....
