Should I put them on disks or e-mail them to myself. What is the best and easiest way to back-up files? (mostly excel and word files)

When backing up files for future use or for storage, you want to use a media which matches your lifetstyle and your needs. A pen drive (flash drive, thumb drive) can be useful in backing up software as you get an actual file to move about, take to other locations etc. Using an external Hard drive means that you would have to have access to this drive in an emergency or in another computer.

The most widely accepted and cheapest way of backing up files is to use a CDR (No, not a CDRW as these can be overwritten). CDR's provide a permanent and easy transportable unit with a wide reaching accessiblity feature.

Cost wise, the external hard drive may be the most expensive and least accessible option. A Pen Drive or Flash Drive may cost you much less, but CDR's are less than $1 each. Most machines these days have CDR Drives in them and software included.

An external hard drive, just drag and drop. You can get these drives in may different sizes from a few MB to some 40, even 80 or more GB. It's easy to use, transportable and it lets you still work on the files.

U should be looking for Acronis True Image.
This backup software has just released and can backup directly to the any removable disk (CD,DVD, external, USB etc).
Besides it's quite cheap.
Just download that software and after it follow the instructions.

Do I use a CD-R for back up, the previous question was told to use a CDR, a CD- R was not mentioned. Are these 2 the same thing?
