When surfing foreign sites I often get a page full of ???????????? and other silly symbols, prior to having windows XP ie windows 2000 I never had such a problem is there a way to view original text of the site you are visiting rather than having a page full of
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????, ?
The majority of sites for this problem mainly seem to be asian sites, your help would be greatly appreciated, cheers in advance.

Recently my computer was stuck in safe for 5 days. The problem started after trying to install McAfee abandoned that and installed Norton antivirus.

When I boot up, I get a box labelled 'photogallery' which has the message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click on try again or enter alternative path... " and a toolbar display "use source C:\SWSETUP\ etc.."

The only way i can get rid of it is to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and end the program. Clicking on 'cancel' takes me to a new dialogue box of error 1706 with the message 'no valid source could be found for source photogallery, the windows installer cannot continue'.

This is a new problem and I think this happened because last week I saw a video clip on the internet, of a man jumping in front of a bus, and I had to click "here" to see the full video and then there was a dialogue box wanting to download something, to which i said cancel and closed the window. Since that day everytime i switch on my computer this 'photogallery' is trying to get set up or installed. Thanks in advance to all people who take time to answer this query

Whenever I turn it on, a blue screen with "checking file inconsistency in C drive" or something like that, and it gives me about 10 seconds to press any key to skip the disk scan. And it also says something about "Fat32"... whatever that is.

Not only does this screen come up when I restart, but every time I insert a CD/DVD/CD-R/CD-RW into the drive, the computer will restart and the same screen comes up.

I let the scan run all the way through one time and it got to showing the desktop and the windows starting music, and then it restarted itself and the whole process over again. It was an endless cycle until I "pressed any key to skip the disk scan", and then it let me use the computer as normal.

Anyone ever have this problem or have a solution? Thanks so much!

My Windows XP has three seperate iexplore.exe files.
If I try to open IEXPLORE.EXE-27122324.pf I receive a message saying, "Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what application created it. Click to search for an application."
When I try to open the other two files I receive a message that these files are part of the OS & should not be opened.
If I delete the first file will this eliminate the problem or just create new problems?

I am curious to know, if soemone can hack into your computer and see what you were doing either online or not online? Also, if you use someone's internet, with your computer is there a way they could see what you did?

for eg when I click the pound sign key this sign comes up instead: #
this only happens for a couple of keys though and it has only started happening a few weeks ago. this is because we got our computer sent off because it had a virus in it and all the files had to be cleared, I think our settings might have been altered as well


so what im trying to ask is are you able to change the settings of your keyboard (change whatever you are typing so some other symbol appears)

I think this has something to do how american keyboards are set

Whenever i try to open a zip file, the screen starts to blink and i have to shut the computer down by pressing the power button to make it stop. This seems to have started after downloading internet explorer 7. How do i fix this problem? Should i go back to IE6?

I have a CD-RW disc and downloading similar files of about 10k. The properties data showed only about 10% of capacity used. Then, for some reason, I get a message unrelated to downloading files, like using a word program, and the computer freezes. I then rebooted but lo and behold when I open my CD drive, the capacity is now 100%. How do I prevent this from happening.
How can a 10% used up CDRW be all of a sudden 100% used up without downloading another file. I did not load a large file to use up all of 700 MB.
