If McAfee partially installed and then Norton was installed, the programs may be conflicting. Look in Add/Remove programs and see if there is anything there with McAfee, and uninstall it. Part of the McAfee install may still be trying to run. Click Start, Run, msconfig, and look in the startup section for anything McAfee and uncheck it. If this doesn't work, Run Chkdsk and Defrag your drive.
I have used Norton for 5 years and nothing has gotten by it yet.

I disagree with the others. I think McAfee is the problem. You may still have some of it on your computer. I had McAfee and was having all kinds of problems. I went to Norton and all is okay. Make sure the McAfee is totally off your computer.
BY THE WAY ----- LOVE YOUR NAME.

Nortons Sucks Mcaffe does to,,, Atleast Nortons Works (what that's engaged on in hardship-free words god knows). That with some thing like CLAM AV must be strong. you could installation 3 Nortons, CLAM AV, and AVG loose version,,, would not count number extremely, dude basically that's like this each and every antivirus software keeps a definition database, that's how they understand whats an outbreak and whats no longer,,, some agencies have strong ones some do not ,,, regardless you favor to hide the span of many def information as conceivable,, so technically u may have as many AV classes as u elect,, basically no longer firewalls thats the position issues initiate,,, in hardship-free words issues AV's will do is have discrepancies vs one yet another... eg he says that's an outbreak and he says that's no longer,,, so enable the loose AV downloading commense dude,, oh properly i fu have a slow pc like MB's for RAM as a pose to possibly a Gb or better,, ignore it,, elect some thing strong and slender, as some people reported AV's take in CPU/MEM. distinctly a mix like nortons and Mcaffe,,, you could take the authentic time monitoring off of one besides if that option is presented,,, the rationalization behind having 2 is to boost ur virus definitions.

Norton will bog your comp down. Lots of people's comps anyway. Try uninstalling Norton and download AVG from www.grisoft.com. It is free and does a really good job for me. If you want to pay they have advanced that should be even better. I like CyberDefender for $46 and will never be without it again.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
