On our 2nd computer, my son deleted some things off from Windows in program files and now when we start the computer the desktop is all gone and it says "Cannot find System INI. Boot with emergency Boot Disk and type Scan Registry and Restore." Its Widows Millineum, and we ont have the CD for it. What am I to do, Plz help. Thanks in advance.

Aside from starting from scratch with the restoration discs ? Everything was fine until a few days ago. My virus scan program caught a virus the other day, do you think that has anything to do with it ?

a few yrs ago lighnting blew my internal modem, so i put a new one in but since then, everyime the ph rings and the computers turned off, it will turn on??? Im on dialup and im on windows xp home.HELPE PLEASE..lol modem is D-Link DFM if that helps???

Hello. My computer is very slow. I've deleted "Temporary Internet Files" and "unwanted programs and their registries". I have also run virus scans w/ AVG and McAfee. Third, I have run a disk defragmenter and disk cleanup. Even after all this my computer is still slow. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 w/ 512MB of RAM and an 80GB Hard Drive. If anyone has any info on how to speed my computer, its programs (including Internet Explorer), or anything else in relation. Please tell me.

I have been trying to decied what laptop to get for college. I will be an engineering major. I have narrowed it to two computers: the dell inspiron E1405 with the core duo t2500( 2 GHz), 1 GB memory, and 80GB hard Drive; or the Apple MacBook with 1.83 GHz Intel core Duo, 1 GB memory, and 80 GB hard drive. The cost amlost the same so..... I would appreciate any advice, even if you can come up with another computer around a $1300 price tag. And DO NOT compare just the power, i want performance and flexibality. I want it to be useful and be able to just goof around on. I will not be playing any games on it so don't take that into consideration. I just want to get my work done on it.

I was moving the My Pictures folder from the 'c' drive to the ex.'F' drive. A dialogue box showed up saying the folder was being used by some other application and I should shut it down if I wanted to continue the move. I clicked ok and now my whole picture collection has disappeared! Gone! Does anyone know where I might locate it? Don't tell me in Mexico or somewhere - this is serious. I've run a search but to no avail. Also, it's not in the recycle bin. Can I retrieve it or is it gone forever? I'd appreciate anyone's help with this as I took ages to build up this collection of pics and I'm feeling awful right now.

my mothers computers C: drive crashed... i researched some recovery programs but it seem logical that the computer has to be on, and the hard drive has to be installed to recover programs from it. thats the problem here... when my dad tries to boot up the computer, it won't go all the way, because of the hard drive... this drive held tons of item that were very important to my family so if you have any ideas of how i can get her computer up and running... if no ideas on that then i need some ideas on how i might be able to recover some or all of the files off this drive...
