Aside from starting from scratch with the restoration discs ? Everything was fine until a few days ago. My virus scan program caught a virus the other day, do you think that has anything to do with it ?

I'm trying to do a system restore and I get an error message every time I try to start the process.

Do you know how to put computer you know how to put your in safe mode? That allows tasks and info to be saved. I would delete any fragments left of the virus; to do this disable or turn off any security to find remnants of the virus. Work fast hopefully there are caught causing the problem.Delete all then run as priority your security setting back on. Reboot the computer and then run a whole system security read out it should be clean. Then for extra left over I would run derangement then reboot again. No more error messages, the computer is fighting with itself trying to follow your directions.

I don't know about your problem, but I had a Trojan Horse infect my computer and had to format and restore from scratch. That was about 4 months ago, and now I update my AV DAILY. I have also intalled a program called "Pest Patrol". It has caught alot of adware type stuff that gets past my Symantec AV software. Both are very good. If you have a Trojan, I feel for you. I had to scan each foler/file before backing up to prevent backing up the Trojan. Lost a lot of good stuff. Good Luck!!!

Start the computer in safe mode and run a complete anti-virus scan. Delete all infected files and delete anything that is in quarantine. Then delete all restore points or else you will reinfect your computer with system restore.
