I was moving the My Pictures folder from the 'c' drive to the ex.'F' drive. A dialogue box showed up saying the folder was being used by some other application and I should shut it down if I wanted to continue the move. I clicked ok and now my whole picture collection has disappeared! Gone! Does anyone know where I might locate it? Don't tell me in Mexico or somewhere - this is serious. I've run a search but to no avail. Also, it's not in the recycle bin. Can I retrieve it or is it gone forever? I'd appreciate anyone's help with this as I took ages to build up this collection of pics and I'm feeling awful right now.

ouch that sucks.

You might need to restore your system. Try doing a system restore.

Go to Start then Programs then Accessories then System tools and click on system restore.

Do a restore to yesterday and it might show up again. If you did a search for it and you couldnt find it, then something went wrong.

you should not lose your pictures so easy. i know you did a search but try doing a search asking to locate all pictures. have you rebooted if not open up my computer and click on edit with any luck you will see the option "undo move this might work"

or try looking at the folder where you intended to move the pics

other than you could try an undelete program which you might get from http://www.download.com

and if that does not work the try using the system restore this will restore the compter to a previous state but im not sure this will work for your computer

good luck

Turn your external hard drive off.

Go to my computer and click on your C drive. Open the C drive and look for My Pictures folder.Search there and I hope you find them.

Maybe you were looking in the f drive where they have not been put yet.

If you find them and have a burner, burn a copy to a disk to save in a safe place, then you can always put them back on a computer. If not copy them to another folder so you will have an extra up to this point.

Good luck.......

If you haven't done anything else yet, go back to the folder where your photos were originally and do a Cntl-Z (undo). That has worked for me in the past. If it doesn't work, IMMEDIATELY get some type of restore or rescue software. The photos are still on your C: drive, but Windows has hidden them by renaming them. The software can help you find them.

Most missing or even deleted files can be quite easy to retrieve... if you know your way around a PC and you do think that the files are lost - download a copy of 'File Scavenger Undelete' and you can bring back almost anything!
