I assume that you have your computer in standby when it turns on. The modem is probably set to be able to wake up the computer from sleep. All you need to do is to go under the device manager, find your modem in the list, right-click, select properties, and somewhere in the popup there should be a checkbox that allows you to decide whether or not to allow the modem to wake your computer from sleep. Disable this and your should be fine from there on out.
If your computer is actually turned off (completely powered down), then your computer should not be able to turn on. I don't know what to tell you in this case.

I'm not sure about that particular modem but try this: go to control panel, phone and modem options, click on modems tab, then properties and then on power management. There should be a box there to disable that feature.

this is due to your configuration in BIOS.
what you have to do is enter SETUP , an look for a field called something like power management, enter it.
disable wake on lan/modem/ring.
and also look for fields like : IRQ3...
set all these fields (irq3....15) to off, disabled or ignore.
irq 3 should be the one responsible...but disable all of them.
now exit and save,
that's it.hope this helps

it truly is gotta be some thing with the waves with the aid of fact good formerly my cellular telephone rings, my little 'egg' digital clock beeps. So now i attempt to place my cellular telephone close to my clock so I even have some extra seconds to run to the telephone if i'm in yet another room.
