well that was stupid of your son...try system restore under system tools to an earlier time

Also you should upgrade to Windows XP as, Windows ME is their worst operating system, and is outdated.

If you have a restore cd, you will need to put it in the drive and let it run through. If you bought the computer straight from a store (i.e. you got it new), you should have that cd. If you can, try and save anything to disk that you will miss.

boot up and keep pressing f8. you will go to a boot menu screen. If i remember correctly, you choose command prompt. select no to everything until you get to the C:/ prompt. type in scanreg.exe/restore. this will take you to a screen where you can restore the registry. select the oldest entry and follow the prompts

You're going to need to repair windows. If you can't find your own ME CD, you're going to have to find yourself someone who does have one, or boot from the CD for your other computer.

try this. as soon as your computer millenium screen appears, keep pressing f8 key. then start in safe mode. once the computer reaches its desktop, try system restore.

if this doesnt work, then borrow a millenium CD FROM SOME ONE. THANKS.
