i have a 7300gs 256 crap card in a pci express 4x (my mobo has the 16x slot, but the clock is locked at 4x)

im getting a new mobo very soon and am wondering what one to get.

i have a pentium d oc'd to 3.8 LGA775
2gb of ddr 533 ram
1 sata dvd, 3 sata hdd, 1 ide dvd and 2 ide hdd
i have a 20/24 pin and 4/8 pin on my power supply
need at least 3 pci slots, i want 2 pciex for sli also.

about the videocard. the 8k's look promising, but the 2k's from ati look like their gonna kick the crap outta the 8k's

should i wait, or get a new vid card now, and which one should i get. im not stressing the vid carde right now cause i can play oblivion on medium settings fine, and when i get the full 16x experience i can up the settings.

thanks

So I have a primary HD and a secondary gaming HD. Do I install my OS on the primary (320gb) then only use my gaming to install games (37gb)? Do I play the games while logged on my first HD or are dual hardrives just like extra space that use one OS to run both?

I've had this DVD ROM for about a year and a half. Every time I put in a DVD it acts like it can't read it, no matter how new or pristine the disc is. It does, however, read CDs just fine. I don't understand how if the laser eye can read CDs why DVDs are such a problem. Sometime after 5-10 minutes of "working" the drive will read the DVD but sometimes it tries to read it and then just gives up. Is there something I can do other than replace it?

Hi all, I see some laptops or desktops come with (e.g.) ATI Radeon graphics. Is this the same as the aftermarket graphics cards? Some system uses the Intel graphics. Which's which?

My Father has a windows 2000 computer. Recently, it has issued a 'warning' saying a immeadite crash was coming. My dad is a lawyer, and it's critical that he saves as much work as possible. Is there any way he can copy his hardrive onto a cd, or floppy disk? Thanx!

Cannot identify card.. all usual places to find video card name are blank or say "device not working properly." Cannot update drivers as we cannot identify the card. Laptop, so taking it apart is highly undesirable :s What do you suggest?

I have a dell laptop. The power adaptor broke and now I cannot turn the laptop on cause the battery ran out of power and the adaptor doesn't work.

I have taken the hard drive out of it and really need to find out what I need to do to retrieve all my old files.

Have seen some references to a "USB" case as possible solution but not sure what it is and how it would connects to the hard drive.

I have bought a new laptop and get the impression this is hooked up to old hard drive and USB Case also.

appreciate any advice I get.

thanks
Mark,

I think it is a 2000 model gateway intel pentium 4 cpu 1.50ghz 512mb ram running windows xp home, 256mb memory, 133mhz processor speed, 20gb hdd with over 11gb free space. I thought the locking up started after I installed the latest iTunes software but after removing all unneeded sw it was fine for a few days then acted up again. I had problem with it booting up. Acted like a crashed hard drive but I really don't know how a crashed hard drive would act. I use comcast high speed internet and have a cdrw/dvd read only combo drive and a floppy drive. Could it be the hard drive failing? Memory problem? I looked at purchasing a bigger hard drive. What all do I need to change out the hard drive? Is there anything else I need to buy along with it? Thanks to all serious answerers, all else...get a life.
