I think I have a basic understanding of RAM, is it the main piece of hardware that handles the execution of programs? Or is that the CPU? I know I am probably asking a very broad and extensive question but if you could lay down the answer for a newb I would really appreciate it.

Allot of Machines have multiple NICs built in but does using more than one decrease over all system performance? I am just wondering if anyone has ever done any benchmark tests.

Does anyone expect there is a need for an Adtran ISU 2x64 or an IBM 7857-017 anymore? I have these, but I don't want to put them on e-bay if they aren't going to sell.

When I boot up the system, some of the lettering on the Dell logo screen looks jumbled (like hieroglyphics or something).
What's going on here?

I have(or had) an external HDD - Samsung - 100 GB, that is basically notebook HDD + external casing.
Yesterday it accidentally fell.
Now my laptop no longer detects it.
Is there anyway to recover the data? Any professional service that can do that?

Now that school is over with, I have time to upgrade my PC with a new video card so I can play more games. But I have never done this before and I need some help!

Here's what my PC already has:
Windows XP Home Edition
2.7 Ghz Celeron processor
512 MB RAM
25 GB of HD space left (out of 60 GB)
64 MB Intel Extreme 3D Graphics card (integrated, it sucks)

My PC has 2 or 3 PCI slots availble, so I need a PCI card.
I was planning on getting just a 256 MB PCI video card. I really only want it to get the games that I already have to run smoother and so I can actually get the newer games to run. Also I have about $80 in gift cards for Best Buy (from my birthday a couple months ago) and not much cash in my wallet, so I would like to get one around $80-$120. I would also like something thats easy to install, but if it's not I can always get my computer game geek Uncle to help me out :-)

Thanks!

Hi, yesterday I experienced a problem with my computer. It would turn on but I oculdnt get into the log in screen, instead a black screen would show. Not all the files for safe mode would load so I couldnt log on Safe Mode either. I tried running the drivers test and it said failed. Is that it? Isn't there anything I can do to save the hardrive?

Bought a new computer, as my old one died rather sudden (Major motherboard fault cheaper for new system than to fix) Now I want to get information off my old hard drive if I plug it into my new system and set it to slave. Will it register as another hard drive in “My Computer” next to the C: drive and will I pick what I want off it like when you attach a recoverable hub, Camera Etc…. Or will there be major personality clashes between the two as there will be two windows operating systems one on each and both hard disks will be named C: Drive will that cause a clash too?
Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. 14/06/07 14:15

Windows Xp is my OS. I bought my transcend 2 GB pendrive 2 weeks back and for 3 days it worked fine in my PC but after that its not being recognised. Msg appears as"USB hardware not recognised". But other PCs are capable of finding it and I can transfer the data efficiently. There are no viruses/trojans inside my pendrive as per my knowledge. What could be the possible reason for this and how will I get that drive working in my PC? Is it the problem with my Pendrive or the USB port of my system?

Im new with using RAID for my pc so please bear with me.

In an event of a hard drive failure running RAID level 1 which I believe is mirroring. How can I recover from the loss? Like, If one fails, I have a copy at the second drive. Right? Then How can I install a new drive to replace the failed hard drive? Should I just pop it in and that should "mirror" by itself or will I need a software that will clone the working hard drive unto the new hard drive then reinstall the RAID Array.
