Windows Xp is my OS. I bought my transcend 2 GB pendrive 2 weeks back and for 3 days it worked fine in my PC but after that its not being recognised. Msg appears as"USB hardware not recognised". But other PCs are capable of finding it and I can transfer the data efficiently. There are no viruses/trojans inside my pendrive as per my knowledge. What could be the possible reason for this and how will I get that drive working in my PC? Is it the problem with my Pendrive or the USB port of my system?

it could be caused by a virus or corrupt driver. if any anti-virus/trojan/spyware/etc.. wont work.
try this
(make sure your pendrive is currently attach in your pc)
goto
control panel -> system icon
in the sytem properties window goto
hardware tab -> device manager button
in the device manage window look for any different icons like
? ! or anything different than the usual. if you think that the one with a ? or ! icon is your pendrive, then remove it. ( most likely it is in the Disk Drives category)

remove your pendrive, restart pc, then attach it.

if nothing else works try reinstalling windows xp

Neither.

If your PC is acting strangely, it's probably infected with malware. Use the link below to learn more about "malware".

Then, you need to install: ONE Anti-virus (I use AVG free), ONE Firewall (Zone Alarm free), and these Anti-spyware tools: Windows Defender, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster and cCleaner (free, I use all 5 regularly).

Google for them, install them and learn how to use them (use the Help TAB).

TIP: The apps above can only clean up so much. Last resort, back up (copy to CD / DVD / external hard drive) all personal data and do a Windows "Clean Install", get more info at (www.theeldergeek.com).

Note: Use your Recovery disks, if included with your PC, not a generic XP disk. The Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, RTFM.

I have the same problem. My usb stick works fine on my new laptop but my old (pentium 4 but 4 years old) pc doesn't recongize it sometimes. It's the age i think. If I really need the file on the usb stick and the pc will not take it, just reset the pc and try again, it always works for me.
