When I boot up the system, some of the lettering on the Dell logo screen looks jumbled (like hieroglyphics or something).
What's going on here?

It could be a virus, have you run a scan on all your files, and drives? Could even be that your montor is on it way out. Check to see what refresh rate is, it may not be correct.

This could most likely be a virus , but it can also be a bad graphics card try replacing it with an extra one if you have one. If its the same than its a virus, if its not then your graphics card was bad.
