the dvd burner is a sony DRX-830U and the dvd's are Maxell DVD+R

The R+ Should be Compatible... it says so on the box... i think i installed the program right.... i even checked the burn speed....

Thanks all.... Figured out the problem... my computer thought i wanted to burn a video cd instead of a dvd...

That drive should have burned that media. I'd say you didn't quite install it right or you used some incompatible program.

Perhaps if you describe HOW exactly you "went to burn" we can pinpoint where you went wrong.

optimum writing p.c. it determined by the disk you're writing to inspite of the optimum p.c. given by your author(Burner) maximum Rewritable CD's leads to 4x,recordable as a lot as 52x.Your author(burner) or burning software don't have any complications.

You can not burn a cd onto a dvd record cd. You might want to try a - instead of a + good luck...

There is a possiblity the disk isn't compatible. Is the burner + or - or both. Is it Hi Def? If so that also takes special disks as well.
